    About Standish

This village is in Greater Manchester. It is a part of the Metropolitan of Borough of Wigan. The area has about 22 unique buildings that are listed. However, its major structure is St Wilfrid’s Parish Church. It is the only structure in the area that is Grade 1 listed in the entire metropolitan. The Market Place has a well that was established in the 14 th century, a stone stock, and a medieval cross. There is also a park called Ash field Park. The park occupies 22 acres and has recreational facilities, woodland, and a space that is covered with green grass. Thus, visitors can enjoy the space by taking runs, playing, walking, or doing other fun activities. Also, they can visit the recreational facilities in the park. The area has war memorials. They are three, to be precise, which include the Standish Pillar War Memorial located in the Jubilee Memorial Garden, The Peace Gate, and the memorial cross at St Marie’s Catholic Church. Most of the memorials were established after First World War. However, some inscriptions may have been added after the end of the Second World War. They were established to honor the men who sacrificed their lives to the world war.
