★★★★★
Top job, very impressed
I had a central heating leak that was driving me nuts. Two plumbers couldn't find and suggested I pull my LVT flooring up. I called ADI and am so glad I did. From my initial phone call and speaking to Caroline in the office to the final fix was efficient, pain free and effortless. Brett, the engineer arrived on time and set about with his array of instruments and tracked and confirmed the leak. Everything was explained and I witnessed four different instruments confirming his findings. Brett, was very friendly and professional. Taking care of my property and minimising the area of floor to be lifted. All in all, I'm throughly impressed with company and Brett's skills. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Brett came to locate a leak which 2 plumbers were unable to find after we sustained water damage to our property. ADI Leak Detection
Contacted this company re a leak that we had been advised about by Anglian Water. I spoke to Caroline from ADI on 19th Dec. She was able to arrange an engineer to visit on 23rd Dec. I was surprised being close to Christmas . She advised the procedure and costs. The Engineer, Brett turned up on the 23rd. He was able to locate the leak very quickly. It was a problem in a cistern, it was isolated. From start to finish he took about 3hrs. That time included locating and testing. I would have no hesitation recommending ADI leak detection. Caroline and Brett very helpful and professional. Have also received a report should we claim on insurance. Well done.

Absolutely recommended. After a thorough survey of the whole of our premises Brett found a leaking copper pipe under the tiled kitchen floor underneath our breakfast bar 😱. Other plumbers and water pump specialists had tried and failed to detect the leak so hats off to ADI. Now we have to go through the trials of claiming through our insurance but full marks to ADI and especially Brett. Thank you so very much.

Prompt and Professional Service
Very quick to get someone out to do survey on our house. The two guys Brett and Matt arrived punctually and were extremely polite and courteous. True professionals who carried out numerous test on all water supplies, keeping us fully informed of their findings as they proceeded. Whilst cost of full survey was not exactly cheap it gave me complete understanding of where the leak problems were. They also gave exceptionally good advice on who I should contact for further advice on insurance claims. First Class service and worth the cost. Well done to both Brett and Matt for their professionalism and friendliness.

Adi Leak Detection did an excellent job sourcing the leak and repairing the damaged lead mains water pipe. Paul and Brett were prompt and efficient and were meticulous in the service they provided. Their professionalism and expertise in handling the situation was second to none and would highly recommend!
Brett came into leak detection via a full trade career in plumbing and heating, which gives him an edge when a leak is behaving oddly or the property layout is complicated. He has a natural troubleshooting mindset — the kind that keeps looking when the obvious answer doesn't stack up. Away from work, Brett snowboards, follows rugby, and by all accounts is good company on a job site. Homeowners in the north of England regularly get an engineer who genuinely enjoys the diagnostic challenge...
Frequently asked questions about Brett
What does Brett specialise in?
Brett specialises in central heating leak detection, water mains leak detection, and underfloor heating leak detection, alongside bathroom leaks, drain investigations, and underground pipework. His background in plumbing and heating means he is particularly strong on heating system faults and buried mains pipe failures, where trade knowledge of how systems are built shapes how the investigation is approached.
How does Brett detect hidden leaks?
Brett uses acoustic listening equipment to detect the sound of escaping water along a pipe run, thermal imaging cameras to identify temperature anomalies in floors, walls, and ceilings caused by leaking pipework, and tracer gas to trace faults in buried or inaccessible pipes. Borescope cameras give him a visual inspection route into cavities without unnecessary cutting, and moisture meters help establish where water has tracked through a structure.
What experience and qualifications does Brett have?
Brett has 25 years in plumbing and heating and 10 years in leak detection. He holds a City & Guilds Plumbing & Heating Level 3 qualification and is Gas Safe Registered. That combination of formal trade qualification and a decade of specialist leak detection work gives him a thorough understanding of how domestic and commercial pipe systems are built and where they are most likely to fail.
What types of properties does Brett work on?
Brett works on residential and commercial properties across the north and midlands of England. Jobs range from internal leaks in domestic homes — under floors, behind tiles, within heating circuits — through to buried supply pipe failures on longer mains runs serving larger properties. His heating and plumbing background makes him well suited to older or extended properties where the pipework is not always where you would expect it.
When should you call Brett for leak detection?
If your water bill has risen without explanation, you have damp patches appearing on floors or walls, or your heating system keeps losing pressure, those are signs worth investigating before more damage builds up. Call ADI Leak Detection on 0800 731 3843 to book an investigation — ADI will aim to assign Brett where he is available and his coverage area matches your location.
How Brett finds your leak
Brett follows a consistent five-stage process on every visit. The approach is non-invasive and designed to isolate the fault before any disruption to your property.
Initial assessment. Review symptoms with the customer, check visible evidence, and identify the most likely system involved.
Selection of the right detection method. Pick the combination of thermal imaging, tracer gas, acoustic listening, or moisture mapping most likely to isolate the fault.
Non-invasive testing. Run the chosen method across the candidate area — no excavation or destructive investigation until the leak is confirmed.
Leak confirmation. Cross-verify the finding with a second method where possible, mark the exact location, and document the evidence.
Reporting and next steps. Provide a written report, photographs, and recommended repair options.
