Central heating leak resolved
Adam visited my property last month to find a leak in the central heating system, which was very difficult to locate. Initially using non-invasive methods, he eventually found the source of the issue and worked with me to minimise damage in its repair (which was very quick). The report received the following day was very helpful. Overall a very good service received from calling the call centre to arrange the appointment through to the appointment itself.
★★★★★
Polite, respectful and professional
Adam arrived to locate a leak between the water meter and the internal stoptap, a distance of 10+ metres. The location is difficult due to the topography. He was methodical and explained his reasoning for each step of the detection process. He narrowed down the area to a few square metres but will need to visit again with a colleague and a digger to access the leak and repair it. Consistently polite, respectful and professional.

Adam from ADI solved the problem within 3 minutes
Adam from ADI visited the house in Cornwall. After a 3 hour drive - he was as fresh as a daisy and got straight down to leak detection. After filling the heating system to 2 bar, Adam's ultra sensitive hearing located the leaking pipework within 3 minutes. He was able to pin-point it to within 5 cm's - truely astonishing !!!. Adam then used wall water guages and listening equipment to confirm his findings. After digging the wall out and making minimal mess, the broken joint was replace, the heating system put back together and fully tested. Job done. Thank you.

Outstanding Service and Expert Advice from Adam!
I can't recommend ADI Leak Detection enough! Adam was incredibly helpful and professional throughout the entire process. He quickly and efficiently diagnosed that we had no leak issues, which was such a relief. However, he went above and beyond by identifying the extensive damp problems we were facing and providing us with clear, actionable solutions to address them. His expertise and attention to detail were second to none. If you're looking for a trustworthy and knowledgeable team, ADI Leak Detection is the one to call. Thank you, Adam, for your amazing service!

Repairing a difficult leak in my swimming pool
I knew I had a leak somewhere in my pool but found it very difficult to locate. I was recommended to ADI Proleak and flinched a bit at their prices but then realised that get what you pay for and committed to them. Adam & his colleague Gabor did a great job; they identified the main leak in a very unexpected and challenging place, and another minor one in the pool house pipe work. They recommended a repair plan taking two days; I accepted; they returned within a few days, implemented the plan very competently, and came in slightly under budget. Best of all, 3 days later I had a disaster in the pool hut which I wrongly thought they might have caused so I called their office; Adam was on the phone to me within minutes with excellent advice and talked me through how to resolve the problem myself in a series of video and audio calls. That was going the extra mile for a customer and I really appreciate it.

I would not hesitate to recommend these folks when you need

Tricky swimming pool leak
Large pool losing water at a rate of knots. Adam and Danny established leak was in the return pipes, found the leak through gas tracing in a difficult to access location, sealed off the pipe from within the pool (with aid of diving gear) and managed to effect a complex repair the next day with minimal disruption
★★★★★
Excellent customer service
Adam and Danny were excellent in every respect . Turned up bang on time on 12th April , explained what they intended to do , informed me of what they found and how they intended to approach the repair . Their Report was comprehensive and informative . They returned as arranged on 16th May to effect the repair and were equally prompt ,helpful and informative . I would say their service was expensive but worth every penny to get the leak sorted once and for all . I could not be more satisfied .

These guys did a fantastic job.
These guys (adam and vince) did a fanastc job of finding and fixing a burst mains pipe underneath the floor, inside the house. Whilst they had to use a nematic driller/hammer to get to the issue. They did with minimal damage, and I'm amazed they manged to locate it so well. Started 9:30. Fonished by 3:30. Thanks.

Leak located
Adam R located the leak for us using tracer gas. There had been no visual sign of damp - just a boiler that completely lost pressure every day. Helpful, fast and got on with what was needed to be done.

Leak Detection
Adam R was very professional. He was able to detect the leak within our home and fix the issue very quickly. He was very friendly throughout and made the process very clear and easy to understand. By the time he had left the leak had been dealt with and everything was in good order.
Adam joined ADI as one of its earliest engineers and has developed deep expertise across three disciplines: swimming pool leaks, water mains, and plumbing and heating systems. He brings 15 years of plumbing and heating knowledge to every job, which means he understands how systems are built before he starts looking for where they have failed. His PADI Rescue Diver certification and 6 years of open water diving experience mean he is qualified to investigate pool leaks in ways most leak detection engineers simply are not. He covers a wide stretch of central and southern England, from the West Midlands down through Oxfordshire and Berkshire.
Frequently asked questions about Adam
What does Adam specialise in?
Adam specialises in swimming pool leak detection, water mains leak detection, and plumbing and heating system leaks, including central heating, underfloor heating, and bathroom plumbing. He also carries out drain leak investigations, underground leak detection, and buried pipe surveys. He was one of ADI's first engineers and has developed particular depth in pool, mains, and heating system work over his career.
How does Adam detect hidden leaks?
Adam selects methods based on the leak type and access available. Acoustic listening equipment picks up the sound of water under pressure escaping through a pipe wall, while leak correlation compares readings across two points to help identify where a buried leak sits. Thermal imaging cameras read temperature variation in surfaces caused by water movement, and tracer gas is used on pressurised systems where other signals are insufficient — a safe gas is introduced into the pipe, and a detector traces where it escapes at the leak point.
What experience and qualifications does Adam have?
Adam has 15 years in plumbing and heating, 11 years in leak detection, 11 years in water mains replacement, 7 years in swimming pool leak detection, 6 years in open water diving, and 3 years as a rescue diver. His qualifications include an Engineering Operations NVQ Level 2, a Bpec Water Supply qualification under the Water Fittings Regulations 1999, and PADI certifications covering Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Dry Suit, and Rescue Diver, alongside Emergency First Responder accreditation.
What types of properties does Adam work on?
Adam works on residential homes, commercial buildings, and swimming pools across a large part of central and southern England. Jobs range from tracing a slow drip behind bathroom tiles to locating a split in a water main buried under a concrete driveway or garden. His diving qualifications extend his pool leak work beyond surface-level checks, covering situations where an underwater inspection is needed.
When should you call Adam for leak detection?
If your water bill has risen without explanation, you have damp patches appearing on floors, walls, or ceilings, or your boiler keeps losing pressure, those are all signs worth investigating before the damage spreads. Pool owners who notice unexplained water loss beyond normal evaporation should also have the structure and pipework checked. Call ADI Leak Detection on 0800 731 3843 to book an investigation — ADI will aim to assign Adam where he is available in your area.
How Adam finds your leak
Adam follows a consistent five-stage process on every visit. The approach is non-invasive and designed to isolate the fault before any disruption to your property.
Initial assessment. Review symptoms with the customer, check visible evidence, and identify the most likely system involved.
Selection of the right detection method. Pick the combination of thermal imaging, tracer gas, acoustic listening, or moisture mapping most likely to isolate the fault.
Non-invasive testing. Run the chosen method across the candidate area — no excavation or destructive investigation until the leak is confirmed.
Leak confirmation. Cross-verify the finding with a second method where possible, mark the exact location, and document the evidence.
Reporting and next steps. Provide a written report, photographs, and recommended repair options.
