The pool had a known skimmer line issue that had been acoustically located on the previous visit but not yet excavated. Alongside this, the manifold valves had been identified as faulty and required replumbing due to how they had originally been installed.

Both problems needed resolving before the pool could be returned to normal operation.

Methods Used

With the leak position confirmed by both pressure testing and acoustic correlation, permission was obtained to excavate. The slab was cut and the concrete broken up and cleared.

This uncovered a leaking union fitting on the skimmer pot. Once repaired, engineers re-dived the pool to check all remaining outlets including the pool lights, and no further issues were found.

Pressure Testing. Each line — returns, sump, and skimmer — was isolated and tested at 1.0 bar for 15 minutes to confirm which circuit was losing pressure before any excavation took place.

Visual Inspection. Following excavation, engineers visually identified the leaking union fitting at the skimmer pot, and after repair re-dived the pool to visually check all remaining outlets for further defects.

    On arrival the filtration system was switched off and made safe before any pool access began.

    Engineers removed the pool cover, dived the pool, and bunged all outlets — the skimmer, two returns, and the sump — to allow individual line testing.

    The two return lines and the sump were each pressure tested at 1.0 bar for 15 minutes; both held pressure with no loss recorded.

    The skimmer line was tested under the same conditions and showed the same pressure loss as the previous visit, confirming the fault was still present and isolated to this circuit.
