Fantastic service from ADI
ADI were so quick, efficient and competent. Where other leak detection companies quoted several weeks lead time, ADI booked James to perform trace, access and leak repair the next day. James worked tirelessly in difficult condition to expose and repair the leak. Fantastic service, many thanks

High water bills with no sign of leakage inside or out. Contacted ADI Leak Detection and James arrived the following morning. He determined by gas injection into the supply pipe, and acoustics, that the leakage was at the SEW meter chamber. Couldn’t have asked for more in terms of the care of property taken and quick identification of the leak source. Highly recommended.

Did a great job!
We contacted ADI after Thames Water had made three attempts at fixing our main leak - none of which was successful. The engineers, James and Vince, did a great job at detecting the leak and then coming back to fix it a couple of days later. They were really careful with our paving and left everything tidy at the end of the day. We had a bit of an admin glitch which was very efficiently sorted out by Abs - a big thank you Abs for your professionalism.

James arrived ahead of time a very likeable guy.He got on with the work well, and updated me every hour or so.He knew the leak was under slabs or crazy paving adjoining. However, because plastic insulation was placed below the slabs and also an inch of concrete, it was difficult to detect the exact spot. After digging up a small crazy paving area which proved negative,he then removed 2 big slabs dug down and there was the problem. He then mended the leaking pipe ,tested it and finished the job. I thought he was brilliant at his job.

James provided an excellent service
James was on time, and very thorough. He checked all the obvious possible problems, and then did an extended gas test. He explained what he was doing at each stage. And showed me the faulty pipe joint, hidden under two layers of planking! No way would I have found it! A really excellent service. Many thanks, Nick, Hove.

We had a great experience with ADI
We had a great experience with ADI, I called up with a suspected leak in our heating system and was able to get an engineer booked within a week to come look at the problem. James, our engineer, was seriously fantastic. He immediately carried out checks, had a few hypothesis of what could cause the issue and methodically went through the steps to isolate our water and boiler systems to identify the ultimate cause and what repair was needed so that we could take it forward. This issue has been a problem for us for over 7 months now and we’ve had multiple plumbers, boiler technicians, water tank technicians come to have a look at our system to no avail, so it was such a relief to finally have someone knowledgeable enough to identify the root cause of this headache! Thanks very much to James for his help today and support. And on top of identifying the issue itself he also answered a number of questions I had about our heating system in general which I greatly appreciate! Would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable and prompt service in this field.

Excellent Service
James was excellent throughout the visit. Knowledge and polite. He helped us with a plumbing leak and was honest about what he could do or what steps to take next as it was part of an insurance claim.
James Hunter is based in London and the South East, where he handles everything from domestic plumbing faults to water mains failures and swimming pool leaks. His 21 years in plumbing and heating means he understands how systems are built, which shapes how he tracks down where they go wrong. He is PADI qualified and dry suit certified, which allows him to investigate leaks in swimming pools that most engineers simply cannot access. Away from work, he is a keen golfer, follows football, and is a family man.
James uses thermal imaging to detect temperature anomalies caused by escaping water behind surfaces, and acoustic listening equipment to hear pressure loss in buried or concealed pipework. For underground or fully enclosed runs, tracer gas is introduced into the pipe so the escape point can be traced from above. Borescope cameras allow direct visual inspection inside pipework where access is limited, and moisture meters confirm whether suspected areas are genuinely wet.
What experience and qualifications does James have?
James has 21 years in plumbing and heating, 15 years in new build plumbing, 4 years in leak detection, 2 years in swimming pool leak detection, and 1 year in commercial plumbing. His qualifications include an NVQ in plumbing and heating at level 2, PADI diver certification, and dry suit qualification — the latter two enabling him to carry out in-water inspections on swimming pools.
What types of properties does James work on?
James works on residential homes, new build properties, and commercial premises across London and the South East. He handles internal leaks in bathrooms and heating systems as well as more involved work such as buried mains investigation, underground pipework, and swimming pool leak detection. His 15 years in new build plumbing gives him a working knowledge of how those properties are constructed, which is useful when pipework runs are not immediately obvious.
When should you call James for leak detection?
Contact ADI Leak Detection if you have an unexplained rise on your water bill, a boiler losing pressure repeatedly, warm or damp patches on floors, or a pool that is losing water without an obvious cause. These are all signs of a concealed leak that a standard plumber is unlikely to locate without specialist equipment. Call ADI Leak Detection on 0800 731 3843 to book an investigation — ADI will aim to assign James where he is available in his coverage area.
How James finds your leak
James follows a consistent five-stage process on every visit. The approach is non-invasive and designed to isolate the fault before any disruption to your property.
Initial assessment. Review symptoms with the customer, check visible evidence, and identify the most likely system involved.
Selection of the right detection method. Pick the combination of thermal imaging, tracer gas, acoustic listening, or moisture mapping most likely to isolate the fault.
Non-invasive testing. Run the chosen method across the candidate area — no excavation or destructive investigation until the leak is confirmed.
Leak confirmation. Cross-verify the finding with a second method where possible, mark the exact location, and document the evidence.
Reporting and next steps. Provide a written report, photographs, and recommended repair options.
