Richard excellent detector of leaks
Arrived on time after an 90 mile journey, sorted my leak which Anglian Water had been giving me grief over. Expensive but piece of mind more important. Many thanks to ADI including the backroom guys,
Plumbing & Heating and Water Mains Specialist · Based in Chippenham, Wiltshire
Richard Poberezniuk is a leak detection engineer specialising in identifying hidden water leaks using acoustic listening equipment, tracer gas, and thermal imaging.
Richard is part of ADI Leak Detection — the UK's leading leak detection specialist with 1,250+ five-star Trustpilot reviews, full CIPHE and WIAPS accreditation, and £5 million public liability insurance.
Richard holds a City and Guilds Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating, backed by six years as a plumbing apprentice, three years installing heating systems, and a decade laying and repairing water mains up to 1000mm. He has spent five years as a leak detection specialist and is particularly well regarded for plumbing, heating, and water mains investigations. Alongside that, eleven years as a qualified gas engineer and eight years managing gas departments for Swindon Borough Council and a housing association means he reads complex heating and pipe systems with a level of familiarity that is difficult to replicate.
Recent leak investigations carried out by Richard Poberezniuk across central heating, water mains, underfloor heating and bathroom leak detection.
The owner of a property in HP9 had not needed to top up the heating system or pressurised hot water cylinder for some time, which indicated the central heating circuit was holding pressure. Pinhole in cold mains pipe under WC floor, located and repaired.

The owner of a property in CF5 had noticed flow registering at the water meter even with the internal stopcock turned off — a clear sign that water was escaping somewhere on the supply pipe. Leak found in lead supply pipe beneath hallway floor, repaired.
Real Trustpilot feedback from customers Richard has attended.
Richard started out as a plumbing apprentice and spent the first two decades of his career working across every part of a building's water and heating infrastructure, from service pipes in the ground to boilers and radiator circuits. He later moved into management, overseeing gas departments for Swindon Borough Council and a housing association before making the shift into leak detection full time. Away from the job, Richard is sociable and keen on photography, which perhaps explains the patient, detail-oriented way he approaches an investigation. Homeowners tend to find him easy to talk to, which helps when a leak has been causing stress for weeks.
Richard specialises in central heating leak detection, water mains leak detection, underfloor heating leak detection, bathroom leak detection, drain leak investigation, and underground leak detection. His depth in both plumbing and heating systems, combined with five years of dedicated leak detection work, means he handles a wide range of leak types across both above-ground and buried pipework.
Richard uses acoustic listening equipment to detect the sound signature of a pressurised leak through floors, walls, and ground cover. Tracer gas is introduced into sealed pipe systems, and a surface detector picks up where gas escapes, pointing directly to the fault. Borescope cameras allow visual inspection through small access points, and moisture meters help map water spread where a leak has been running for some time.
Richard has six years from a plumbing apprenticeship, three years as a heating systems installer, ten years laying and repairing water mains up to 100mm, eleven years as a gas engineer installing and servicing gas and oil heating systems, four years as gas department manager at Swindon Borough Council, four years as gas department manager at a housing association, and five years as a leak detection specialist. He holds a City and Guilds Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating.
Richard works on both residential and commercial properties, covering everything from family homes with underfloor heating or aging central heating circuits to larger buildings with complex mains supply arrangements. His experience with water mains up to 100mm means he is comfortable on jobs where the leak sits well below ground and requires more than a standard trace and access.
If your water bill has risen without explanation, you are losing pressure in a heating circuit, or there are damp patches appearing under floors or on ground-floor walls, those are signs a concealed leak may be present and worth investigating. Call ADI Leak Detection on 0800 731 3843 to book an investigation — ADI will aim to assign Richard where he is available in your area.
Richard follows a consistent five-stage process on every visit. The approach is non-invasive and designed to isolate the fault before any disruption to your property.
Richard works across central heating, underfloor heating, water mains, bathroom plumbing, underground pipework, and drain leak investigations.
His background in both heating systems and mains water infrastructure means he is equally comfortable tracing a fault in a pressurised heating circuit as he is investigating a buried supply pipe.
Bathroom leaks, drain investigations, and underground pipework all sit within his scope.
Richard covers a broad stretch of southern and central England and into Wales, including Bristol, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Warwickshire, and West Sussex, as well as counties in South and Mid Glamorgan, Gwent, and Powys.
Richard handles both residential and commercial properties, from straightforward domestic leaks beneath kitchen floors through to more involved jobs on buried mains supplying larger buildings.
His decade spent laying and repairing water mains up to 100mm means he is well suited to supply pipe failures that require excavation and reinstatement as well as the investigation work that precedes it.
Properties with older heating systems or complex plumbing layouts are a particular strength given his background in heating installation and gas engineering.
Richard carries out leak detection surveys across South East, South West, The Midlands & Wales. His work includes domestic and commercial investigations involving central heating, water mains, underfloor heating, bathroom, and drain leaks.
