    About Bridgnorth

Bridgnorth is a market town in the county of Shropshire, western England. The town is bordered and divided into two towns by Britain’s largest river, the Severn. Its two towns – the high town and the low town, are connected by a funicular bridge. Bridgnorth boasts two unique heritage railways: a Cliff Railway, which climbs from the Severn to the high town, and the Severn Valley Railway, which operates heritage trains on a beautiful sixteen mile stretch of riverside line. The town of Bridgnorth has plenty to offer its residents and guests, from caves, castles, shops, and pubs – there’s something for everyone at Bridgnorth. Here are some key locations at Bridgnorth we recommend you visit!

    Bridgnorth Castle and Gardens

Bridgnorth Castle and Gardens is a historical landmark as well as a leisure garden located at 3W Castle Street. It features the remnants of the Castle, which leans at an alarming 15 degree angle that’s greater than the Tower of Pisa. The grounds’ Castle Walk links the gardens to the Cliff Railway and offers spectacular views over the Low Town and the Severn Valley.
    Bridgnorth Museum

The Bridgnorth Museum on Northgate, Bridgnorth is an independent museum run and managed by volunteers from Bridgnorth and District Historical Society. Bridgnorth Museum is open from Easter to October every year, on Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesday afternoons as well as on bank holidays from 1pm until 4pm. Admission to the museum is free.

    Severn Valley Railway

Aside from its regular service, Severn Valley Railway also offers special events such as the Footplate Experience where guests can have the opportunity to drive a train. The railway’s trains are also available for venue hire. For more inquiries, call 01562757900.
