Sutton Park, Birmingham

Sutton Park is a huge National Nature Park Reserve situated about 6 miles north of the city center. The Park is ranked one of the largest parks in the United Kingdom; it covers about 970 hectares. It’s designated as a site of special Scientific Interests. The city of Birmingham also has other tourist attraction sites, for instance, The National Motorcycle Museum; this will provide full enjoyment while in the town. History of Sutton Park, Birmingham

This is one of the Public Parks; it was created in the 12th century. Considering its frequent use has resulted in the perfect preservation of archeological remains of various dates. The Park’s existence has enabled the development of some natural sites; for instance, the Park has opened the heathland, Woodlands, Marshes, Wetlands, and Seven Lakes. The Park also has its own rich plants and wildlife, and basically, some animals like cattle graze on the land.

The opening time in the Park will be advertised at the entrance gate, and they are different from other parks in Birmingham. Things to do and to see in the Park

  • Sailing is one of the recreation activities carried in the Park. You will be able to sail and canoe at Powell’s Pool, and Sutton Sailing Club will aid this. The club also offers lessons in sailing.
  • Fishing as a recreational activity. Fishing in this Park is permitted and specifically in Blackroot, Bracebridge, Powell’s, and Keppers pool. Research has that thousands of anglers visit Sutton Park annually.
  • Playgrounds, you will find two playgrounds in the Park where your kids can play catch up with others kids. One playground is near the Town Gate entrance, and the other one is near the Banner’s Gate entrance.
  • Just like any Park, Sutton Park also offers orienteering courses. Maps for the same will also be provided at the visitors’ center. However, orienteering is forbidden on 1st April and 1st September because it will bring disturbance to animals.
  • Refreshments and food, there is a massive number of restaurants in the Park. The Park also contains two pubs providing refreshments. The Sutton Park also accessible parking facilities.
  • Do you like playing Golf? Sutton Park has 18 holes Boldmere golf course.
  • The Donkey Sanctuary, basically situated in the stunning Sutton Park, offers a positive space for the general public and therapy clients.
  • Walking, Cycling, Jogging and Horse riding. This is being aided by dozens of paths and bridle running across the Park. Cycling and horde ridding are only allowed on the bridleways.
  • Model aircraft and Yachts. Sutton Park consists of model aircraft flying fields, and there rules in place must be followed by flyers. However, flyers must be members of the Sutton Park Model Aero Club.
