    About Great Dunmow

This is a small market town that dates back to Roman Times. It is known for its 4 yearly rituals of the “Flitch Trials,” mentioned in Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales. In addition, the town is known for its remarkable places such as:

Talliston House & Gardens. This famous attraction was just an ordinary house in a usual street, and the Talliston has been developed into “Britain’s Most Ordinary Home.” The place unveils the magical labyrinth of rooms, set in a different place and time.

It took almost 25 years to finish this project and become a famous landmark in Essex. It transformed into a wonderland filled with rooms rich in stories. Visitors would be impressed by its labyrinth design as they can leave behind the outside world and walk along the walls of reality.
The Forgotten Gardens of Easton Lodge. This is an idyllic garden and haven that was partially restored to its former beauty by volunteers. This garden was historical, as it dated back 400 years ago. It was owned by the Countess of Warwick, right before he assented to the throne and became Edward VII.

The visitors would be enthralled at how the gardens turned like the Italian Gardens. It was beautifully maintained, and there were lots of plants of different varieties – making it not forgotten as visitors loved it.

Thaxted. This is a historic site in a charming old town. Thaxted is also a lovely village to visit, with lots of views to witness at every turn. You can see the historic Churches, Yarn Market, Windmill that opens at times, and some houses that add beauty to a great spot. Their great selection of shops where you can buy gifts and souvenirs is also one of the most visited tourists. It’s truly a beautiful town that makes it worth a trip.
