    About Helsby

Helsby sits between Manchester Ship Canal and the River Weaver. It is most notable for Helsby Hill, which rises an incredible 462ft. There are also traces of Iron-age, and from there, you can capture spectacular views of the majestic sweep of the Mersey river and the surrounding countryside.

Transport is mainly through Railway services and bus services. There are also different shops, pubs and restaurants where you can unwind after a long tiresome day.

    Places of interest in Helsby

    • Helsby Hill: It is an Iron-age hill overlooking Helsby. The hill has steep cliffs. Recent excavations have revealed a wall composed of rubble and sand. The hill is most notable for its fine views and is managed by the National Trust.
    • Helsby Quarry Nature Reserve: As the name suggests it was once a working quarry used to extract sandstone. The Borough Council acquired the site. The tunnel and rock wall within the area was formed from sand dunes and river deposits.
    • Helsby Park: The park is very accommodating. Damson and apple trees are filled in the area, and guests are encouraged to pick whenever they are in season. They also allow dogs. The park also offers spectacular glimpses of the Delamere Forest, Frodsham and Helsby hills.
